MOLES Archaeology is a company specialising in small scale Contract, Research and Landscape Archaeology Projects. Field and Desk-based projects are undertaken for private home owners to large companies. One-day watching briefs through to small and medium scale excavations are all undertaken at very competitive rates. All aspects of archaeological work are included, from evaluation, excavation and surveying, through to report production and post-excavation archiving. Human Osteoarchaeology and Finds analysis are also carried out in-house. We also work closely with a team of Ecologists allowing us to provide a ‘one-stop’solution to many of your Planning Conditions.

MOLES Archaeology also offers consultancy for developers and impartial advice on all forms of archaeological matters. All Archaeological and Heritage work is undertaken to English Heritage standards, in accordance with IfA Standards and Guidance, and projects are run along the guidelines set out in Map2 and MoRPHE.

MOLES Archaeology was founded in 2004. Its founder and Director, Geoff Morley MSc, PCIfA, FSA Scot is accredited to the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, and is a holder of a Professionally Qualified Person’s card of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme. With over 20 years’ archaeological experience Geoff has, with his skilled team, undertaken projects ranging from the early Neolithic through to WW2, working as a Heritage Consultant, experienced archaeological surveyor, and also leading community-based projects. Geoff also specialises in mentoring practical archaeological fieldwork and landscape surveying and passing skills to both early career professionals and those working in the field of community archaeology and public heritage.

Over his career Geoff has worked on innumerable archaeological and cultural heritage projects in the UK, Europe and North Africa. Some of his more exotic projects have included working in Italy (The Imperial Forum, Rome; Villa de Poppaea, Oplontis, near Pompeii and Morgantina Greek city, Sicily), and in North Africa, primarily in Libya (Euesperides Greek City and, Marmarica and the northern Sahara) and in Tunisia (UticaRomano-Punic City). All these sites have been a mixture of University research archaeology and training excavations for University students, members of the voluntary sector and for professionals starting their careers.

Geoff has an MSc in Applied Landscape Archaeology from the University of Oxford.
